What is CBD oil?
With its broad-spectrum and powerful properties the CBD oil is gaining more and more popularity these days. You can find it in different types and applications of products, tinctures, sprays, food products, skin care, hair care and body care products. The presence of extremely many useful substances in its composition and the proven positive health benefits rank it among the most sought-after ingredients on international markets and in our country.
CBD is short for cannabidiol, which is the active ingredient found in the hemp plant. CBD is one of 113 cannabinoids discovered, along with CBD, CBDa, THC, THCa, CBG, CBN, and the most famous of these is THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). THC is a psychoactive compound that induces intoxication and alters consciousness. CBD has no such properties, and we can enjoy its therapeutic and health benefits without unwanted side effects.
CBD has been associated with specific medicinal properties and a number of other different uses. Research shows that cannabidiol can help with anxiety, neurological disorders, improves cognitive abilities, helps relieve pain, works effectively in the treatment of skin diseases.
How does CBD work in the body?
Within the human body, there is the so called endocannabinoid system (ECS). The ECS is a complex cell-signaling system – a lot of its works and functions are still unknown and under research. Scientists, however, found that it is the underlying system responsible for maintaining balance in many of our body’s physiological and cognitive processes. It plays a role in regulating sleep, mood, memory and appetite, as well as immune response and inflammation.
To maintain balance in the ECS, our body is able to produce the needed cannabinoids itself, the so called endocannabinoids. However, when CBD as a phytocannabinoid is consumed, it can further help keeping the balance of the ECS or even help restore it.
